TOKYO, Aug 3- New events such as surfing and ice skating, which first appeared at the Tokyo Olympics, have boosted viewers, especially in Brazil, the International Olympic Committee said on Tuesday.

The high-profile forecast released by the sports federation on Tuesday contradicts first-rate data, which shows that the Tokyo Olympics are currently the most under-represented Olympic Games in Europe and the United States.

In the United States, the most important Olympic marketplace where NBCUniversal broadcasts events, the opening event has attracted 16.9 million US viewers, the youngest viewers at the event in 33 years.

On Tuesday, Timo Lumme, chief executive of IOC’s television and marketing services, said the audience would come to watch the Games in their millions in the United States, with an average of one hour on the Olympic programs for about 17 million American viewers each night.

Lumme said he expected to see fewer people attending the opening ceremony in Tokyo than in Rio in 2016, where the world’s population is expected to reach 600 million.

In China, a large number of spectators watched the 100-meter men’s tennis table and table tennis table, while skating and skating were the five best programs of the Brazilian Olympics during the first week of the Games.

In Japan, where more than half of the audience opposed the Games in view, the view remained strong, with 113.5 million Japanese watching the coverage of the Games from August 1st.

Apart from the decline in new games, viewing has also declined throughout Europe.

The British public broadcaster, BBC, says it had an estimated 2.3 million and 944,000 online audiences at the opening ceremony, a 39.4% drop in BBC viewers live at the Rio opening ceremony and a 61% drop in the BBC’s top they listened live to the opening of Beijing in 2008.

Discovery Inc., which owns European rights at the Games, said on Tuesday that more than 275 million viewers were watching the Games on its platforms, with more than 100 million of them on Discovery TV and digital broadcasting. its broadcasters.

In an email, the company said this represents a 10% way bigger than the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Games.

Asked by reporters on Tuesday about the effects of the shortage of fans on the stations due to the restrictions on COVID-19, IOC Lumme said it had “no effect” on viewers or participation.

Although comparisons with previous Olympics are incomplete due to various time periods, the NBCUniversal manager said the low points were due to a one-year delay in the Games as well as a lack of spectators.

Sept 16 – alleged Brooks Koepka’s application for the Ryder Cup after the four-time coach described the two-year event as “unusual” and said he would not be able to stay out of club games.

In an interview with Golf Digest this week, Koepka said the United States-Europe team event has taken on a common practice and it is difficult to deal with distractions such as photography, meetings, and team building.

“You go from individual sports to team sports one week a year,” he added. “It’s too far from my normal routine. As soon as I see my (personal) team. It’s hard to go to the gym.”

The 31-year-old, who is still recovering from a wrist injury that forced him to leave the Touring Championship, said there was no time to slow down in the Ryder Cup.

“It’s much more demanding than I’m used to and there’s a lot of emotion out there, so on Sunday, you’re just dead.”

Koepka added that although he wanted to represent his country at the Olympics, “it was probably not in my DNA, the issue of team sports”.

The comment did not go well for Azinger, who works as a commentator at NBC.

“After reading this, I’m not sure that Brooks really likes the Ryder Cup and if he doesn’t like it he should just give up and find people who like the Ryder Cup,” said Azinger, the United States leader. with a victory in Valhalla in 2008.

“Not everyone welcomes you, but if you can’t be sold on it, I think Brooks should think about whether he really wants to be there.”

Azinger is also concerned about the impact of his well-written dispute with Bryson DeChambeau on the team’s good behavior.

“If you put Bryson in power, it will make the decision easier for him (Koepka),” he said.

“Brooks is one of the most honest, trustworthy people and if he’s honest he doesn’t confide in her and if he doesn’t want to be there, he should go out and say it.”

The Ryder Cup, postponed last year due to the COVID-19 epidemic, will be played from September 24 to 26 in the Whistling Straits in Wisconsin. Europe defends champions after their victory at Le Golf National near Paris in 2018.
